4d in Barnstaple – Days 1-3

Day 1 – England, here we come!
The long-awaited language trip to Barnstaple, England, started punctually at 03:45 in the morning. Quite tired but in a good mood, we set off for Vienna International Airport.
After arriving at London Heathrow, we got on a coach that took us to Barnstaple. During the journey, the teachers had the brilliant idea to follow the coronation ceremonies on the radio… After a few minutes it became very quiet in the bus, as the pupils were getting their well-deserved sleep 😉
At about 3:30 p.m. everybody got picked up by their host families or was driven there by our lovely local organizers, Angela and Roy.
Day 2 – Trip to Tintagel
Well rested, we met on Sunday morning to visit Tintagel Castle. We immersed ourselves in the lives of King Arthur and his Round Table. Of course, a visit to Merlin’s cave was not to be missed…
Day 3 – Guided tour of Barnstaple with history quiz
The day started with some light drizzle, which didn’t bother us because there were classes in the morning, but in the afternoon, the English weather lived up to its reputation: the heavens opened and it POURED!
Nevertheless, Roy took us on a very informative tour of the town and we used our newly acquired local knowledge to go shopping afterwards.
