Hiking on Shrove Tuesday

On Tuesday 9th February a group of outdoor-oriented pupils took a brisk walk along the Bahnwanderweg from Semmering down to Breitenstein, before hopping on the train back to Wiener Neustadt. Everyone enjoyed the fantastic weather and the beautiful scenery, with wonderful views of the viaducts and tunnels of Carl von Ghega’s world-famous Semmering Bahn. Opened in 1854 after six years under construction, it was the world’s first mountain railway and has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1998.
